Bôndy's approach to the problem of rural isolation

Published on: 09 June 2020

The isolation of farmers in rural areas limits the marketing of products in urban markets.

The lack of information on markets, marketing difficulties linked to rural isolation, and the lack of infrastructure that diminishes the attractiveness of tourism are an obstacle to the development of rural sectors.

  • Accessibility of the plots to be reforested

For successful reforestation, good accessibility of reforestation areas is necessary for the transport of seedlings (to be moved with care), human resources and tools. It is partly for this reason that Bôndy undertakes road consolidation projects to improve accessibility to reforestation sites.

  • Improvement of market and human flows

The soul of Bôndy is not just about reforestation. Indeed, technical support can promote the economic development of a rural community. Through this work, Bôndy's twofold objective is to limit the isolation of rural areas in order to promote local economic development.

In the space of six months, Bôndy renovated two roads and built two bridges near its nursery. Following this work, the communes of Ambohijafy and Ambodivato are now accessible by vehicle from the commune of Andramasina, the district capital.

Bôndy, in its model, wants to be a major player in the development and emergence of rural society.
