Bôndy

Farmers' plots

Madagascar

It grows

According to Global Forest Watch, 44% of Madagascar's natural forests have disappeared in the last 60 years . Although rural populations are the first to be affected by deforestation, they are also responsible for it. Indeed, the precariousness and the lack of alternatives to meet their needs (energy, construction wood, human and animal food, money) push them to deforest.

The main challenge that Bôndy has set itself in Andramasina is to approach farmers in an intelligent reforestation approach.

After a needs analysis, Bôndy drew up a list of useful tree species for the homes of our partner farmers.

Bôndy will thus plant 4 categories of trees on more than a hundred farmers' plots:

  • Firewood
  • Construction timber
  • Tree for food and feed
  • Income tree

The sustainable use of these trees for farmers thus guarantees the survival of the planted trees.

In the long term, Bôndy's mission is to create subsidiaries that are sustainably associated with the farmers and the planted forests.

These trees, in addition to the positive environmental impact, will stimulate local entrepreneurship and thus have direct benefits for the owners of the plots.
