Go Teach goes Green

Madagascar

It's green

"GO TEACH" is a job placement programme for young people developed by DHL World in more than 60 countries. Madagascar is taking part in this programme with SOS Children's Village. Bôndy will join the programme in 2021 alongside USAID. Go Teach thus becomes"GO TEACH GREEN". This will include an environmental component to the training offered.

In concrete terms, this environmental component comprises three themes:

  • Environmental awareness
  • Biodiversity
  • Agroecology

Thus, Bôndy trains teachers in public high schools in five (5) regions of the island in agroecology. Namely: Analamanga, Vakinankaratra, Menabe, Atsinanana and Analanjirofo.

Bôndy, SOS Village and USAID join DHL throughout the programme. The training provided to these young people combines theory and practice.
THEORY: Training teachers in the creation, maintenance and sustainable use of permaculture plots.
PRACTICE: design of a permaculture demonstration plot. Teachers and students will be asked to replicate this plot on a medium scale.

Bôndy remains convinced that raising awareness and training Malagasy youth is a significant development lever. And this, with a view to responding to the multiple environmental crises of the Red Island.
