MENABE PROJECT
Menabe, MadagascarWe are in the Menabe in Madagascar.
A region known for its unique fauna and flora. From "makis" (lemurs) to "renala" (baobabs), Menabe is full of endemic species now threatened.
At the heart of the region is the Kirindy Mitea forest, which happens to be the largest baobab forest in the world (known as "renala" in Malagasy).
Forest fires, pollution and climate change have a considerable negative impact on the region. This leads to insufficient rainfall and drought.
Bôndy's mission is to bring this natural heritage back to life by including local communities through this project in the Menabe. As we speak, Bôndy has planted ten thousand (10,000) trees in the Kirindy Mitea forest.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF THIS PROJECT:
- 10,000 trees planted
- including 2,500 baobabs
This Bôndy project also allows:
- create jobs for local communities
- help restore such an important national heritage as this forest
