“Betting on development” conference: Bôndy reaffirms the key role of impact entrepreneurs
Bôndy participated in the high-level conference: “Madagascar: betting on development”. This event, initiated by Miarakap, Indri and Kinome, brought together entrepreneurs and private sector actors for two days to reflect on an innovative growth trajectory for the Big Island, focused on the valorization of its natural resources.

During the panel entitled “The role of impact entrepreneurs in shaping the future”, Adrian Levrel, Deputy CEO (DGA) of Bôndy, presented the company's vision.
“Our job today is to reconstitute ecosystems that generate social and economic impacts,” he said. “We want to make Madagascar an international reference for an economy based on the restoration and valorization of natural capital.” In just six years, Bôndy has grown from a team of around ten people to 160 employees in six regions of Madagascar.
A model structured around three pillars
To transform this vision into reality, Bôndy is now deploying its action around three strategic and complementary axes:
- Ecosystem restoration: To sustainably rebuild Malagasy biodiversity.
- Inclusive value chains: The development of agricultural and forest sectors to ensure sustainable incomes for local communities and partners.
- Financial Engineering & Carbon Markets: The use of climate financial mechanisms to secure and self-finance restoration projects over the long term.
Despite this momentum, Adrian Levrel highlighted the continuing challenges associated with accessing finance. Recalling that the environmental sector works with “the living”, he called for more pragmatic financing, adapted to the long cycles of nature: “The immediate return on investment is not the norm in our field, but financing is vital to secure sustainable growth opportunities.”
The DGA concluded on an optimistic note by referring to the growing interest of investors: “We now have a portfolio of national and international clients ready to invest. They are looking for sustainable products, sourced locally from producers who respect the best environmental and social protection practices.”
