Talaky Be: Bôndy arrives in the South-East
Officially launched last March, under the support of Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty (MIASA) and financed by theFrench Development Agency (AFD) as well as theEuropean Union via the initiative Global Gateway, the Talaky Be project (Lot 2) marks a major step forward for the Action Contre la Faim (ACF) and Bôndy consortium. For 42 months, our teams will be deployed in the Anôsy region to contribute to the sustainable transformation of landscapes and strengthen the resilience of communities in the face of climate change.
Although Anôsy is recognized for its rich biodiversity, the region faces strong environmental pressures. Recurrent droughts, deforestation and agricultural insecurity are weakening household livelihoods. It is to meet this challenge that the Talaky Be project was designed.
In this context, Bôndy manages and restores forest landscapes in 7 target municipalities: Esira, Manevy, Maromby, Tranomaro, Behara, Behara, Ambatoabo and Ankariera. The ambition is to sustainably restore 1,680 ha of forest landscapes, while strengthening 15 grassroots communities. This process, rooted in a long-term territorial vision, is based on the development of 2 intercommunal development plans and 7 communal restoration plans (RPF), ensuring that local populations become the true guardians of autonomous and sustainable management of their natural resources.

To achieve these goals, Bôndy takes an integrated approach linking local governance, ecological restoration and economic development. A real restoration value chain is thus set up, combining individual reforestation in agroforestry and community actions.
This approach is based in particular on the establishment of seed banks of indigenous species, valuing both traditional knowledge and scientific knowledge. It is complemented by the use of arbuscular mycorrhiza, natural symbiotic fungi, to optimize the survival and growth of plants in arid zones.
This dynamic continues with the establishment of more than 50 community nurseries, managed by groups of 10 to 20 members, paid according to the quality and viability of the plants produced. The planting phase mobilizes a labour-intensive approach (HIMO), creating temporary green jobs for the benefit of the most vulnerable households. All Bôndy departments are involved at each stage of this project, from preparation to follow-up.
