The contiguous bays of Ambaro and Ambanja, on the north-western coast of the country, contain the second largest mangrove forest on the island. But, with 20% of forest disappeared between 1990 and 2010, these mangroves are among the most endangered in the country.

Why Diana?

Deforestation promoted by local coal production leads to irreversible losses of biodiversity, seriously impacts fishing activity and exposes populations to risks by reducing essential coastal protections.

Our actions on the ground

Establish a conservation agreement with local communities to prevent the destruction of mangroves, a crucial habitat for many plant and animal species, by promoting sustainable income-generating activities.
